MAC Student Spotlight: Mariano, Junior at JWCS

This month we are proud to feature Mariano, a Junior at Jan Work Community School! Mariano is pictured here working on linocut printmaking, taught by MAC Teaching Artist, Kristi. Here are Mariano's thoughts about the arts:

Why do you love the arts?

Because you can express yourself.

What is a favorite piece of art you have created or a favorite time in performing arts?

The pallet knife tree paintings with Kristi. It didn’t matter if you messed up. It was going to look cool anyways.

What would you say to a friend to get them interested in the arts?

That if they’re having problems at home they can express themselves in any way with art.

Why are the arts so important?

Because, I guess, for Mammoth we have so much snow that there’s hardly anything to do outside [if you don’t like skiing] so you can stay inside and draw.
