MAC Teaching Artists have been BUSY visiting all of the schools in Mono County this past month - we've taught music classes, Ski PE Stay-back sessions, Create with the Greats - we've been SO busy and we love it. This month, our Teaching Artist Annemarie Hall, talked to Caitlin, a 4th grader, at MES.

Why do you love art?
I like to be creative and work in watercolors a lot. With art, you can make whatever you want, and it can be abstract or real.
Do you have a favorite piece of art you have created? Or one that has inspired you?
I am in 4th grade and like to create drawings that are peaceful. My favorite piece is of someone sitting in the grass with flowers and a blue sky, very peaceful.
What would you say to a friend to get them interested in art?
There are so many good things about art, not just painting and drawing. You can dance and sing. And you can express yourself.
Do you think art is important? Why?
It is fun to express yourself and art lets you ‘collect your feelings’. I use RED when I am mad and colors and flowers when I am happy.
What do you love to create the most?
I like to paint and draw, but also like to dance. I have been dancing since I was 3 ½ and I am 10 years old now. I like dancing because you get to create with other people something that you all do together and share with other people.
