MAC February Student Spotlight: Andrea Nicole

Meet Nicole, a 3rd grader at Lee Vining Elementary. Nicole LOVES color and that's a big part of why she loves art! Especially when our February days are GREY!

Why do you love art?

Because there’s a lot of colors and my mom went to Mexico and she got me new colored pencils with 2 colors in them!

If it’s rainy, I can color the rain. If it’s valentines, I can use valentine’s colors.

What is a favorite piece of art you have created?

A drawing of me - a self portrait! You can create anything you want and make yourself look any way you want. I drew my blue glasses and I did my dress blue because blue is my favorite color.

What would you say to a friend to get them interested in art?

There are a lot of colors you can use, and you can make a lot of different things - animals, people, even butterflies.

Why do you think art is important?

Art is important because sometimes if you miss someone you can create or color something for them - something they would like and brings you closer to make them happy. When my mom wasn’t here, I made her a picture of our family for her.
