Mono Arts Council
MAC provides visual and performing arts education for K-12 students in school, after school, and during the summer. We ensure every student in Mono County has access to this VITAL part of their education. Arts education increases test scores and attendance. Making art supports good mental health and provides opportunities for social-emotional learning. Our adult programs, including Art & Wine and the MAC Gallery & Community Arts Center help us raise awareness for arts education and give local artists a place to showcase their talents.

Arts Education
Our arts education programs are the core of our mission. Mono Arts Council partners with the Mono County Office of Education, the Mammoth Unified School District, and the Eastern Sierra Unified School District to fill the gaps in arts education. We provide highly skilled Teaching Artists and art supplies for a variety of programs from Kindergarten - 8th grade. These programs range from visual arts, through our Create With the Greats Program to our MAC Music Program.
Our goal is for every student in Mono County to have access to Art, Dance, Theater, Music, and Media Arts.

DANIEL WIESE
This work is a modest, but personally important tribute to the natural world. Daniel’s exhibit, ‘Clarity’, is an expression of the dual meaning of his artwork, applied on clear glass, and his findings and exploration of the lucidity and simplicity in the natural world.
“My time in the mountains has revealed wild, unaltered landscapes filled with more captivating beauty than the whole of humanity could ever hope to capture or replicate in any form of art. The twisted, gnarled branches of stout Junipers; the smooth, liquid grain of a Bristlecone wrapping around a root that has spent thousands of years forming and seeking water; the jagged Peaks and rounded Domes shaped by chance, and time; and the Shifts in the earth’s crust, volcanic activity, and glaciers long since passed.
Every moment spent in these places—less than a blip in their making—has inspired every line drawn here.
At the foot of these wild spaces, I’ve also spent the last two years interacting with wild animals at Wildcare Eastern Sierra where we rehabilitate injured and orphaned animals. Mostly birds. These up-close interactions have been life changing. Encounters with animals in the wild are ephemeral, a fleeting moment of excitement and gratitude, often from a distance. The opportunity to get close and spend extended periods with a wild animal, to be a caretaker to that animal, allows for another level of connection and appreciation. The birds illustrated in these pieces are my thanks for all they have taught me.”
